Branta sandvicensis
This bird is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands
The Nene is the world's rarest goose
It is an endagered species under the Federal Endangered Species Act
In 1951, the Nene population was estimated at only 30 birds.
Due to conservation efforts, the Nene now numbers in the range of 200-300 birds.
