I've been finding a lot of these lately and thought it was a mutated mason bee fly/wasp. These guys are really scary. I knocked a few down to the floor and messed with it. The only slight difference is the color of the one's over here have metallic purple and green added to the one in this image. It's stinger was out trying to sting in all directions. The stinger was folding under it's body and was almost twice as long as it's body length. How do I keep these away?

me and my best friend just caught one of these today for our insect collection, in fact, these wasps have a paralizing sting, it stung a neighbor of mine behind the ear, and he was actually unconscious for a long time, and had to go to the hospital. They burrow under ground and kill crickets and grasshoppers and drag them underground, in which they lay their eggs, and they're larva mature in the burrow feeding on the dead insects that the mother brings them. They are very viscious!!!

These are very aggressive. I have them around my home and they will come after you even if you are not threatening them. I'm highly allergic to stings and have had a free ride vs ambulance because of these. If anyone can e-mail me more information about these guys, it would be great because I know absolutly othing about them.
