Hi Lew,

This one has been fascinating yet haunting me... I finally got it!! I've never seen this spider in real life, and this is the only one of this genus in the United States (the rest are in Brazil, and deep tropics).

It is an Acacesia hamata (in the family of orb-weavers (Araneidae)), but it doesn't have a common name that I could find.
