This video provides a brief synopsis of the metamorphic cycle of the Monarch Butterfly. This butterfly is in serious decline and is under evaluation by the US Fish and Wildlife Service for designation as a "threatened species" under the US Endangered Species Act. The background music is one of Frederic Chopin's most beautiful solo piano works, the "Butterfly Etude".
