"White Morph"

Copyright © Lewis Scharpf

Sometimes called the Great White Heron
East End Pier Area
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Note: This bird was originally thought to be a white color morph of the Great Blue Heron.
Recent research suggests that this bird is at least a subspecies of the Great Blue.
Some preliminary unpublished data suggest that it may be a separate species.
