Adults also called Hawk Moths and larvae called (Hornworms)
Larvae feed both day and night on many kinds of woody and herbaceious plants.
Adults feed on nectar and some are important pollinators.
The caudal horn on the largae is thought to have originated by the fusion
of strong bristles at the end of the abdomen. Its function is not clearly understood
Some larvae (hornworms) do serious damage to crop plants such as tomato
tobacco, and potato. Some hornworms are attacked by braconid wasps.
