DL-Dave AT South Pole E-9.jpg

While there, they went to the literal "South Pole"; there REALLY is one, which he's standing next to, and behind it are displayed the flags of the countries that are authorized to be on that continent. Dave briefly flew a U.S. flag right there that he'd brought with them, that was later enclosed in his retirement shadow box. His flag had also been flown over the Texas capitol (his home state), the U.S. capitol, and at several of the ships he had been stationed on. However, it flying AT the South Pole was the most unique location his flag ever flew at!
