City: Hector ARK GPS: 35.54487,-92.94935 Shade: Very Good Proximity to Food/Gas: ~ 40 Min From Russellville, ` 1 Hour from Marshall or ~30 Min From Bridget's Bigmouth Burgers How We Found It: Gez Rogers Map From Wife Fee: No Smoothness of Road: Good Years Visited: 2024 Photo Gallery: Here Pros: Scenic (at one spot), deep water and good jumping with a rope swing (at another spot), shaded. Cons: Far from eating places (unless Hector has something), sometimes "undesirables" at the spot best for swimming, shallow water at more secluded-scenic spot Grade: B+ This is a new spot for 2024, found via the Gez Rogers map my wife sent me. It's a bit of a mixed bag. For one, at the "main" spot (which the GPS points to), the water is deep and you have plenty of room to jump from without being so high, and there is a rope swing. On the other, the scenery is OK but not great, and the first time I went (in the "mini" June trip) there were a lot of "undesirables" hanging around. I liked it otherwise (when the undesirables weren't there in July), but my wife wasn't so impressed, neither were the kids. About 0.3 or 0.4 miles prior to the spot, on the right, is a spot my wife liked much more. It has better scenery and is more secluded, but the water was shallowish to me. Still, you can get good shots there. Probably the main negative aspect of this spot is that, best as I can tell anyway, it's not anywhere near anything else, and not near much in the way of food (unless there's something in nearby Hector, I haven't checked). Archey isn't that close to things either, but all 4 of us liked it greatly, and at least there's good food nearby. It may be worth checking out if you're near Slim's BBQ (located at 35.715056, -92.82332) or Bridget's BigMouth Burgers which is at at 35.715056, -92.82332. There are other spots in the area with similar names, they also have Illinois in the name. I haven't checked them out, they may be worth a shot.
