Hydrangea leaftier (Olethreutes ferriferana), #2827

St. Albert

This tiny moth in the Tortricidae family, is well named as the only known larval host plant is hydrangea, and that is indeed what it was found on. This was a garden hydrangea but it evolved on wild hydrangeas in the past.

Wow, this is really tiny. Wonderful capture. Your commentary shows how interrelated the natural world is and how just the loss of one species to extinction could be devastating. V.
