Nomada bee on spring beauty (Claytonia caroliniana)

There were several large patches of spring beauty in the woods today. This is another native flower of woodlands, appearing before the trees leaf out. Many species of bees were nectaring on the flowers, and at the same time helping pollinate them. The tiny nomada bee is another non-stinging bee.

It certainly resembles a wasp. I wonder how many of these nonstinging bees I avoid. Beautiful detailed capture. V.
