Banded Tussock Moth caterpillar (Halysidota tessellaris), #8203

Exhibiting the same colours of autumn as many of the surrounding leaves, this golden coloured caterpillar was munching away on a dogwood leaf, along a trail in a conservation area.

Very interesting caterpillar, Christine. One must wonder about its "autumn" colour - surely it doesn't prefer yellowing leaves?
