The Asteroid caterpillar (Cucullia asteroides), #10200

This caterpillar is often found on asters and goldenrods. The caterpillar is far more colourful than the drab brown, but interestingly shaped, moth! Photographed at the Fletcher Wildlife Garden.

Love this pose you caught here. Interesting that its prettier as a caterpillar than a moth. Beautiful color and detail. V.

Reading your descriptions with a head cold is awesome - "This caterpillar is often found on asteroids and goldenrods." Oh really?!? :) Voted.
