This is the last of the monarch butterflies I reared this summer. It had just emerged and was drying its wings. I released him (it was a male)over at the Beechwood Cemetery where there was a greater selection of nectaring plants than in my garden.
He's a beauty Christine! I'm so impressed with your knowledge and am most appreciative that you share this info with all of us! :)

Its wings are like a stained glass window, Beautiful adventure you have had with these monarchs. The chrysalis has divulged it secret and you were there!
your conservation efforts, evidently successful, are to be applauded...where would we be without these regal standard-bearers of all that is good about life on earth...great that you let them go too, in a place where their chances of survival were enhanced...hats off to you Christine, ace photographer and positive advocate for the natural riches of our world...V
