Hover fly (Eristalis sp.)

This little fly was too busy nectaring to fly away when I stuck the camera close. The Genus Eristalis has some of the best bee mimics in the Syrphidae (Hover flies). This could almost be mistaken for a honey bee. But when you look closely you can see the eyes are very differently placed and the antennae are very short, compared to the long antennae of bees and wasps (though some flies do have long antennae too, just to keep us on our toes when identifying them).
