Found by the hundreds along the Mississippi River at Blakeney. This species is one of the net-spinning caddisflies in the family Hydropsychidae. They are found along fast flowing rivers and rapids, which is exactly what the habitat is at this location. These insects are fascinating creatures. They get their name (Net-spinning) from the delicate webs that the larvae construct to catch food under the water. The adults had just emerged, hence the huge numbers.
