Robber fly (Laphria sp.) a bumblebee mimic

Larose Forest

There are many robber fly species that mimic bumblebees. Some are quite small, but others like this one, are very large, larger than a queen bumblebee (and that is large!).

You are good at spotting these mimics! I had no idea there was a such thing as a robber fly bee mimic. Neat!

I wish I had such a sharp eye, good capture, a lovely mimic, complete with fuzzy stripes. V
