Robber fly (Laphria sp.) a bumble bee mimic

This was a very small Laphria sp. Most of the others I've seen have been quite large with a thorax more yellow in colour, like a bumblebee. This one was much paler.

It does a good job of mimicry, doesn't it?

Gorgeous shot, such an unusual position he is in, and the little blurs are very painterly. V
