Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum)

Burnt Lands near Almonte. This beautiful large milk snake was resting under a large rock. Stephen picked him up and he wasn't too happy, not surprisingly. We took a few photos and let him go. He was beautifully fresh, and had probably just shed his old skin not very long ago.

The shiny scales on his head attest to a recent shed. Our milksnakes (Mexican} have the red, white and black pattern. This one reminds me of a cornsnake. I love how you captured that headon shot with the long tongue. Voted.

Great shot of the proverbial forked tongue. And his clothes do look new. :) V
