A bach is what we Australians would call a holiday shack, but New Zealanders take them more seriously.
The custodians of Rangitoto have retained several baches on the island (after many had been removed as illegal)
as informative examples of "bach culture." Not to be confused with Johann Sebastian (not a New Zealander).
