A long detour off the road from Cienfuegos to Trinidad took us to the El Nicho National Park. Then an easy level walk (past a kiosk selling cold drinks and snacks) to the first pool where some less inhibited people swim in the river, below a cascade. The main waterfall is a minute or so past this, with tourists taking turns to be photographed standing in front of it, blocking the view for other photographers. Then a serious scramble up rough steps to vantage points above the falls and a bit further to a lookout with magnificent long views. Then a "Ritorno" sign points to a longer but easier way back. Allow about 90 minutes for the walk, and take drinking water.
