Shepherdstown and north. Whites Ferry and south. Into Washington DC, beyond the canal and to the Mall. A final trip with the kids to Rileys Lock at the end of the month.
In September, a trip back to Whites Ferry after a long break. Then onto the section south of Sharpsburg and Shepherdstown.
Its beginning to get cool in the mornings in October. The roads are foggy early in the morning on the way to Point of Rocks. Two weeks later I was at the Monocacy Aqueduct. Fall is definitely here although I do not see the colors in the leaves. Because to the cool temperatures in the morning, there is a layer of fog over the water early on in the mornings. I also see this on the Little Seneca Lake on my way to work every day. The fog dissipates as the sun rises an burns the moisture away (not a very scientific explanation!). The next weekend at Widewater showed Fall peaking at this location.
In November, I started out with a visit to the Dam 4 area. I had previously traveled this section only by bike. Most of the leaves have fallen off the trees. Sections of the trail are covered with a carpet of leaves. It is getting cold. The week after that I went with Arun to the Whitewater area. The weekend of Thanksgiving, I did the Brunswick - Harpers Ferry section again. What a foggy morning!
Then in December, on the path between Fletchers Boathouse and Lock 7 during the first weekend. Then between Whites Ferry and Edwards Ferry the next weekend. It was during the third weekend in December that I started using the ultra-zoom camera on the run from Rileys Lock to Swains Lock. I ended up taking pictures that I would never have dreamt of taking in the past!
