A trip to places north of Harpers Ferry early in the month.
Then a trip to Great Falls and the recently opened Widewater area after heavy rainstorm activity. The canal was full of water in sections that previously were just puddles, but the flow in the river itself was only moderately greater. The falls looked awesome nonetheless.
Then in May, back to Rileys lock. Then on to Brunswick in search of the turtles. Finally, the century mark on the towpath at Williamsport.
A final trip was made to Falling Waters, just beyond the halfway-point of the C&O canal towpath. I had to drive quite far to get to the starting point for this hike at McMahons Mill.
Then in June, headed west from Williamsport. Then a regular run from the Monocacy Aqueduct to Point of Rocks. It is the middle of June and it is still unusually cool in the mornings. It finally turned warm the next weekend when I was running between Violettes Lock and Swains Lock.
