Wrong Turn

West Virginia

If you're ever driving in a remote section of southern West Virginia and the road turns into a rutted unimproved lane and you come across a cabin that has its door decorated with pelts, make a U turn and get out fast. :)

Yeah, yeah...my guess is you were invited in for a whiskey and you accepted. I can see you yanking out that toad sticker you carry and carving yourself off a hunk of whatever game might be on the table too. Bet it was a nice visit, huh?

Wow! I wonder what kind of holiday this house is decorated for!

You find the best stuff...

Oh My...I know someone that lives like this. If one enters his property he takes out his gun. Nice guy if one knows him..or it would seem. Hunts for all his own food, a naturalist that lives off the land. Hadn't seen him in a few years. A little to extreme.

Karen, you need to be careful!!

Think it's safe to say tourism to this area is not about to rise...LOL !! Wonderful capture, Karen.

There are a few other places in the Appalachions with sights like this. Much less "interesting" than encountering a still or stashed gallons of shine. :)

Nice colors and textures. There's something about old, weathered wood....
katwilkens20-Nov-2004 16:20
Especially when there's a knothole by the door that the barrel of a shotgun would fit in! Great photo--you were brave to take it.

I can believe that, Gayle and I have been down some roads that fit that description.
