Sadie

West Virginia

I went to the Delimart, one of my daily stops.

On the bench outside was a young girl sobbing, holding a puppy and a bag. As I approached she asked if I wanted a puppy. The story was kind of garbled. Something about a fight with her parents. What was obvious was that she was heartbroken over having to give her puppy away.

What can I say? I've got another dog. We exchanged phone numbers in case the situation changes and she can get her dog back. I told her she could come visit her anytime and she said she wanted to.

She gave me the eight week old puppy, a bag of dog food and some house breaking papers

Shot in point and shoot mode. She has a short attention span.

I'm now a foster parent for Sadie. Which probably means I'm up to three dogs.

Any guesses as to her mix. She's very small so probably not a Lab.

She looks a lot like my recently deceased dog (at age 14) This is a picture of him as a puppy:

He was a mix of a border collie, and a Groenedaler(I don't know the English name, but it's a black shepherd dog).

I guess you're just a sucker for a sob story, puppy smell and a wet nose ;-)

Cute pup; what kind of parents would send a kid out to give away her puppy? You'll be entertained this winter, that's for sure!!

Touching story but sounds like the best of possible endings. I hope it works out that the little girl can reclaim the dog.... kids need a dog (pet) to grow up with. This is an excellent image Karen. You caught a great expression on the dog's face and very nicely exposed.

She's got a good home now! Karen, you are a kind person.

Oh, you were so nice to do this! Congratulations!!

You rescued the puppy! Hope it all works out. She is a cutie pie... I would have guessed a lab mix.... but really I have no idea. You're a sweet person Karen.

oh wow - I loved Rosie when she was tiny....there's something about puppies - good luck with her (and don't get your heart broken)

I've got a 3 month old golden retriever that likes sticks too & gives me the same expression when I get the camera out.

Best of luck to you, Sadie & the little girl that had to be sure her friend went to a good home.

Oh, Karen, not you too? This is a beautiful little dog, though. Best of luck.

I commend you for doing this, Karen. I have two here and although i would probably feel as you did (do) I doubt very much that i would be able to go through with it. You just got my vote!!

How could you resist? She's a sweet looking pup.
Good for you Karen!

Cute and forlorn. I'm sure you'll be rewarded in heaven, or in another life, or maybe even through the joy you'll get from this puppy in this life!

cheers

Ahhh..so cute. I do see lab in that mug though. I wanna pick her up. Sounds like you are up to three dogs and a new little friend. Good luck with Sadie.

I feel sorry for the little girl, and I'm sure she will be a frequent visitor to
the very cute pup. Great shot.

What a cute puppy, enjoy..

Oh Karen, how I can relate. A 3-dog owner myself I have found good time management skills essential! I would guess although small a Lab mix.

Sweet story.

glad it was you and not me who met the girl, so i don't have to decide :-)
lovely dog, great picture

Oh, she's adorable. And she looks happy to boot.
How lucky for her that you happened along.
Melanie17-Nov-2004 13:57
What an adorable pup. She looks to have intellengent eyes. As to the breed, I'd have guessed some lab as well. Though she's small, but still very young yet... She may grow much bigger yet. (her paws look to be from a middle sized breed IMHO)

Like the storyline Karen. I am not a pet person so of no help re breed, but have confidence in 'Father Time'! Really like the contrast black/green and the hair texture.
