Lime Kiln (1)

At round 1830, the members of "Wong" family (Hakka People) arrived Sai Kung and developed the village. Different from the other villages, the output of Sheung Yiu was not the agricultural products.
Lime and bricks were their major products, even the villagers earned much from these products. In several decades ago, lime and brick were very important in construction.
This kiln is located just adjacent to the village for manufacturing lime. The villagers used straws and timbers as the fuel to burn corals and oyster shells to made the lime.
