This is a photograph of Sgt. Simeon Howard Rush, from Michigan, of Company C, 48th Armored Infantry Battalion. He and Pvt. Donal Paul Hinds, from Waco, Texas, and Pvt. Anthony Januska, from Saline County, Illinois, were all killed October 2, 1944. Here is the C/48 Morning Report's Record of Events for that day: "Co with Co D of 40th Tk Bn began attack on woods NW of Overloon at 0630 Heavy opposition encountered and heavy casualties suffered. Reached edge of woods in assault at around 1730. Enemy counter-attack at 1900 repulsed."
