Why was their 2 different lengths? Simple, the early cockers from the early to mid 90's had a back block that was fully squared in the back (see the back block section for pics). The later back blocks until now milled down the back block on the lower section to reduce weight. Now that the back block was thinner at the bottom, the cocker rod length had to be reduced to match. These early cocking rods were not adjustable as far as the head goes. The Head was perminately mounted to the rod. The only means of changing length was by removing part of the rod on the threaded end, or by different thicknesses of bumpers.
