Not the most unobstructed view of the trip, but this was the only individual of this species of tanager that we saw during our entire stay in Ecuador. With that lovely blue smattering of color over the eye, this was a fairly distinctive tanager, but why they named it for that bland buff-colored patch on the breast, we'll never know.
