Although we have recorded 6 species here to-date, our only resident hummingbird species that never leaves the yard is Anna's. I set up for this series of Anna's images near a window feeder, using a pine tree in full sun at the far back side of the yard to get a softer, more even background. Then as the birds came into the feeder, they backed off and hovered every so often. That is when I endeavored to trip the shutter. After about a half-hour, these are what I ended up with.
