We took this shot along the trail to Akaka Falls. The clump of bamboo in the background is around 25-30 feet tall. The tree in front of it with the umbrella-shaped leaves is a Cecropia. Bamboo is actually in the grass family Poaceae, and Cecropia trees can be found throughout the Neotropics and down into South America.
