Mushrooms found on Vancouver Island - I have identified these mushrooms to the best of my ability with a lot help from David Arora "Mushrooms Demystyfied", the NAS Field Guide to Mushrooms and Matchmaker: Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest. However, they are just a "best guess" by an amateur and not to be taken as a positive ID. NEVER EAT A MUSHROOM IDENTIFIED FROM A PHOTO! If any of these ID's are incorrect, I would appreciate a comment. Thank you.

I love your photo gallery. We have 5 acres of woods on our property and I have spotted many different types of mushrooms and wondered if they were edible or not. Your photos have shown me which ones not to eat! Actually, I'm leery about eating any of them. I did find Yellow Amanitas - thought they were very pretty; now I know they're poisonous. Thanks a lot for the wonderful gallery and information on the different types of mushrooms. I wonder if I may e-mail you a photo of some mushrooms I found in my woods and if you could identify them.

There's one here, just under it's other name - Armillaria ponderosa. Fabulous mushroom, I'm hoping to find some this year. And believe it or not, that was three years ago!
