Quakers established the first school in 1871.
The first building was built in 1872.
It was built for Cheyenne and Arapaho children but it had very few students until it was split into separate sections for the kids of the two tribes.
With separate classrooms and living quarters it quickly grew to several hundred students.
At some point the two tribes merged and today are known as The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribal Nations with over twelve thousand enrolled members.
They still maintain their separate cultures.
