Bas-relief on north stairs, showing a two-humped Bactrian camel brought by a delegation from Arachosia (Kandahar in modern Afghanistan).
The Apadana or Audience Hall of Persepolis belongs to the oldest building phase of the palace complex, the grand design by Darius I the Great (522-486 BC).
On this place, the great king received the tribute from all the nations in the Achaemenid Empire, and gave presents in return.
The stone Reliefs depict twenty-three gift-bearing delegations each in its own national dress, and separated from the next by a cypress tree.
