Located next to Church "On the Rock" (Na Skalce) which means "on a small rock" in Polish - this ancient pilgrimage site was the center of the Cult of the Bishop of Kraków St. Stanislaus (Stanislaw), an 11th-century bishop and martyr.
Originally, a Romanesque church was built there. King Casimir III raised a new gothic church in its place and since 1472 this shrine has been in the possession of a monastic community of Pauline Fathers. The church adjoins a 17th-century Paulinite monastery modeled on a Renaissance castle.
