Built by Samu Pecz in 1892-96, in Neo-Gothic-Secessionist style, on the site of former medieval market. The roof of the church is covered with colorful pyrogranit ceramic tiles from the Zsolnay factory.
This one of the best known churches in Budapest is situated at the Szilágyi Dezső square right on the bank of the Danube, almost in front of the Parliament building.
