Tychy is a city in Silesia in southern Poland, approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) south of Katowice. Situated on the southern edge of the Upper Silesian industrial district.

The church of the Holy Spirit was built in 1978-82. It is shaped like a tent, which corresponds both to biblical times and Polish wooden churches, and crowned with four slender crosses.
Due to its unique form, in 1983 the church received the 1st Prize of the Association of Polish Architects for its architecture.
Stanislaw Niemczyk (1943-2019) was the architect responsible for the design.
The internal roof surfaces are lined with boards and decorated with polychrome icons, made by Jerzy Nowosielski (1923-2011), an outstanding Polish painter.
