Vientiane

The name Vientiane (Viang Chan in Lao) is derived from Pali, the written language of Theravada Buddhism, and its original meaning was "The king's grove of sandalwood", this tree being esteemed for its fragrance in ancient India. The city is the capital of Laos and has a population of about 200,000.

Hi John,,,I left my heart in Vientiane..My wife is an Australia aid worker based in Vientiane..I was lucky enough to spend 3 months in Indochina using Vientiane as a focal point..Your gallery brings back wonderful memories of Vientiane,,,places I've seen and people I met..
