I have been cruising right along with my scanning project but I hit a snag today. My workflow scans the negatives because they are better at preserving color than old positives. As a matter of fact I have had no problems with negatives until today. All of the scans looked like the top image from May, 2002.. VERY UNUSUAL! I spent quite a lot of time scanning things I have scanned before as well as scanning some prints (bottom) just to see if there was a problem with the scanner or the software. All was in good working order.
The film I was scanning was Kodak Gold 100. You would think that would be the best in the film world. Almost all of my color scans are of Kodak positives or negatives. So this was a real surprise. All I can figure is that there was a problem with the film batch or a problem with the processing. All of the negatives have been stored under the same conditions. A little later in the day I ran into another batch with similar problems. Hope this isn't a portent of things to come.
