Yesterday I had my first outing with the Powershot SX70. I was pretty happy. Today, not so much. My target was going to be airplanes and when arriving at the airport a Piper Cherokee was doing touch and go's. So I set about shooting. Back at the house the Lightroom results were not very good. There was a lot of noise in the photos. A little bit of noise reduction slider helped, but the result loses sharpness of course. The attached is before (top) and after (bottom) Lightroom noise reduction. This is a 897 X 598 (0.5 MP) crop out of a 5184 X 3888 (20.1 MP) frame. If you view in "original" you can see better what I am talking about. It is clear there is a lot of testing to be done.

FWIW, John, Topaz Labs DeNoise AI is a small sensor camera's best friend. It not only eliminates noise completely (in most cases) but also enhances sharpness rather than losing it. It's an added step, but worth it.
