We headed off to Austin to meet up with our son Richard and his family. After the requisite stop at Buc-ees in Bastrop we headed to the LBJ Presidential Library so Ginny could pop in and get a stamp for her book. We had visited it twice before. Then it was off to the state capitol where we ate lunch in the Capitol Grill (burgers) then took a guided tour of the capitol building. In the Senate chamber there is a huge painting entitled "Dawn at the Alamo" by Henry Arthur McArdle in 1905. The most interesting part of the painting is the piece (lower left hand corner) in today's photo. It is a ghostly figure of Jim Bowie in the fight. In actuality he was so ill that he couldn't get out of bed and was murdered by the Mexicans as he lay there.
In the evening we met up with Richard and company at their Air BNB and had a nice long chat. Then it was out for dinner at Pinthouse pizza. A very nice day all in all.
