Tomorrow we are heading out to Austin and Fredericksburg to meet up with our son Richard and his family. They are flying in from Los Angeles and the flights, especially on Southwest, are sort of dicey because of this storm. Way back in the old days before the internet, it would be damn difficult to monitor progress of a flight. Now days it is easy. We use flightaware.com which gives an (almost) real time flight status. So we were able to check the status of their flight as well text about things. I can remember in the old days not being able to check flight status easily and heading to the airport at the expected arrival time. Somebody in the car would be dispatched inside the terminal to check on arrival time on the flight status boards. Crude but effective.
Anyway, Richard et. al. ended up about 2 1/2 hours late into Austin. I am excited because we will spend three days with them and have an in-person (but late) Christmas. Life is good. We saw all three of the boys this year at Christmas.
