Our last full day in Quebec City. We have pretty much seen all the stuff on Ginny's list, so we booked an excursion to see some more stuff farther away. It turned out to be a beautiful day weather-wise. Our original plan was to drive this ourselves in the van, but I just didn't want to return to the city on a Saturday afternoon and try to find a parking place. That was a good idea. Road traffic and crowds were a problem and I was thankful that the bus driver would deal with that.

First stop was Sainte Pétronille on the l'Ile de Orleans. Very scenic place. The place we visited was Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orleans, a chocolate and ice cream establishment. Ginny had a double chocolate cone (today's photo) and I had a home made ice cream sandwich. I haven't had ice cream in a very long time.

We stopped at Montmorency Falls next. It is billed as taller than Niagara Falls. Although that is true, it is not nearly as wide. We had enough time to walk around and unlimber the selfie stick, ending up with a good photo. Thank heaven we are using digital, we ended up with 50 out-takes. Imagine the old days and shooting two rolls of film.

We had another stop at Cuivres d'Art Albert Gilles, a shop that has been around for 90 years and specializes in making embossed copper art objects, from trinkets to church doors. Their products were fun to look at, but we aren't into copper decorative arts.

Last stop on the trip was Sainte Anne de Beaupre Basilica which opened in 1934. The first church at the site was erected in 1658. Saint Anne, the mother of Mary, is the patron saint of unmarried women, housewives, women in labor, grandmothers, childless people, equestrians, educators, lacemakers, miners, the poor, and seamstresses. Also the patron saint of Quebec, sailors and fishermen. Pretty busy woman, n'est pas.

Back in the city we went to church at Saint Patrick's which was an English mass. We wandered back to the hotel through an area with lots of restaurants looking for a place for our farewell dinner. We found a good one and had a very leisurely dinner of bacon cheeseburger, poutine and a beer for me; fish and chips, poutine and wine for Ginny. Life is good.
