We drove from Montreal to Quebec City this morning. It took about three hours. Our hotel is a quaint one, Manoir sur le Cap, located on Governor's Square in the old town. It is very nice, but there are no elevators. We are on the third floor and I assumed we would have to lug everything up two flights of stairs. Wrong. It is up three flights because the bottom floor is the rez-de-chaussée (RC, ground floor) which is not counted. Fortunately we are here for six nights and leaving will be downhill all the way.
After getting settled we took a two hour walking tour of the fortifications. It was very good. The history of the area is all new to us, of course. Over the next few days we will get a better understanding I am sure.
There are no big grocery stores nearby so we went to a little market a few blocks away. We walked out with some lettuce, tomatoes, crackers and some wine. Back in the room we celebrated the end of our third week on the road. Four more to go.
The photo today is one of our customary poses in front of something local. This time it is the Chateau Frontenac, a Victorian era hotel finished in 1893.
