This was our last day in Montreal. It has been a very good visit. We walked to Mary Queen of the World Cathedral to have a look inside. It was quite ornate. Finished in 1894, it was based on Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Next we took an Uber to Maison St. Gabriel, a farm started by Marguerite Bourgeoys in 1662 to feed and support the congregation of Notre Dame de Montreal. She also started a school there for the locals as well as the Filles de Roi, the King's Wards (1663 to 1673), which relocated young women (at King Louis XIV expense) to New France to promote marriage and settlement in New France. We had interesting tours of the gardens and the house.
Today's photo illustrates how we ended our visit to Montreal. A nice meal of smoked beef and poutine. Ginny likes it and so do I. A beer or two also went well with it.
