Today was a touring day in and about Fredericksburg. We visited the Pioneer Museum which had good displays of life in the town. Then across to the Vereins Kirche for another visit. Also dropped in to St. Mary's Catholic Church which is very beautiful. Reminded us of the painted churches in New Braunfels.
After lunch at Woerner Warehouse we fiddled around a while then headed east down 290 for a tour and tasting at Grape Creek Vineyards. The tour was very informative and the tasting interesting. They only sell wine to "members," those who have signed up for a subscription to their offerings. Their reds were nice, but nothing jumped out at me as a must have. Besides they were $45 per bottle. I would pay that much for a reasonable bourbon, but not a bottle of wine.
We took a little break to relax and recuperate after a busy day. Then it was off to the Cabernet Grill. Ginny had seen it on the "Texas Bucket List" TV show, so she was excited to try it. Our entrée was a chicken fried rib eye steak with chunky lobster topping. For dessert we had chicken fried pecan pie with Jack Daniels chocolate ice cream and whipped cream. I love pecan pie and I love fried stuff. This combination is unbeatable. I wonder if some bacon might enhance it?
