Day 31

Happy Independence Day! No fireworks or celebrations here at Isle Royale. We did have quite a busy day. It started out with a boat trip around the to the other side of the peninsula to Hidden Lake and Lookout Louise. There was a little hike up to the lookout. This time we had a NPS ranger along for the ride. He was interesting. A little screwed up on his glacier facts. When we returned to hidden lake, there was a moose grazing on the other side. All I got to see was the south end of a north bound moose.

After lunch Ginny and I hiked out to Scoville point. It was an easy hike but it was long. Along the way we passed a Bald Eagle nest with the Eagle in attendance. That is today's photo. I shot the photo with my new G5X. I would have liked to use the 5D MkIV, but decided not to lug it around on this hike. We figured we hiked about 7 1/2 miles during the day. Afterwards we were quite bushed and I pooped out about 7:30 pm. All in all, a very satisfying day.
