Our big adventure for today was a trip to Molokai. Our mode of travel was by a Cessna 206 Caravan. It is a short flight from Maui to Molokai but it is very scenic. Once on the island we spent the day with a guide on a private tour of the island. He was a native of the island and it was interesting to hear his perspective on things. Bottom line, the people of the island do not want there to be any development. They fear becoming like Oahu and Maui. I can sympathize with that perspective.
Maui was famous for the leper colony of Kalaupapa. When it was established there was no cure for leprosy (Hansen's disease). Now there is an effective cure. This is where Father Damien made his mark back in the late 1800s.
All in all, a very enjoyable day except for one thing. The wind blew over the tripod and Ginny's trusty Canon G16 was destroyed in the fall. Today's photo is the last photo it took with Ginny peering at the dearly departed friend.
