We stayed close to home today. First stop was the Maui Tropical Plantation. There was a tram tour of the place which included a demonstration of husking and opening a coconut. That was interesting. Getting the husk off is a challenge.
We headed off to Iao valley where one of the biggest battles of Hawaiian unification was fought. It was King Kamehameha I in charge of the event. He eventually unified the islands. Kauai decided to just give in rather than put up a fight. That was probably a good idea.
We made a quick stop at Heritage Gardens Kepaniwai Park. It didn't hold too much interest. There were areas dedicated to various nationalities that came to Hawaii.
The day ended with a tour of Maui Brewing which was a lot of fun. I never met a brewery I didn't like.
Today's photos is of us at 'Iao Valley. In the background is Kuka'emoku. Ginny showed her Lightroom handiwork by editing out a building to our right. Great job, Ginny.
