We visited Mount Vernon today, George Washington's home. I had been here several times before. There are lots of things to see. There are several museums and lots of short films to see. We ended up spending the whole day. One thing new was the reconstruction of Washington's grist mill and distillery. The grist mill was in operating condition and they ran it so you could see the grinding process. They were milling corn. The distillery is functional. They product liquor two times per year. You can buy it in the gift shop, but I chose not to. It strikes me that $188 for 750ml is way too much. I would liked to try it, but not at that price. You can get a very nice 18 year old Scotch for that price.
Today's photo should be a blast from the past for many of us. In the good old days this display would be loaded with 35mm film of various varieties. It would be in every drug store and gift shop in the country. Everybody knew Kodak film. We bought tons of it over the years. This particular one was in the gift shop at Mount Vernon.
