Project Day 99 - Exile Day 49 - Today is a milestone in the exile. It is the end of the seventh week.A week ago we thought we might be able to return by this weekend, but that does not appear to be in the cards. The carpet guys were delayed again because of the weather, but they did get going in the afternoon and put the pad down in about half of the upstairs. Tomorrow they are back in the afternoon, but it is unlikely that they will finish then. Maybe Friday. Maybe not. This last bit of the project seems to be getting dragged out quite a bit. One big thing that still needs to be done is mounting all the drawer pulls and knobs. This isn't a hard project. Diego made some drilling templates which will ensure the hardware will be mounted just right. All of the floor protection in the kitchen, living room and dining room has been removed exposing the nice slate floor Ginny selected. Still have floor protection in the hall and two downstairs bathrooms.
Ginny's sister Theresa came to visit. She is a chaperone for the Corvallis robotics team. The world robotics competition is being held here in Houston. Today she got some time to spend with us. We went to our usual Wednesday evening trivia competition and with her help, we won the thing. That is a good deal. The first prize is a free drink and a free appetizer for everybody on the team next week. I know that sounds like a "free beer tomorrow" sign, but we know the payoff comes because we have seen other teams enjoying it. Life is good. Especially when you win.
